ADITESS has participated in the international conference with topic “Safety and Health in Facilities’ Management” that took place in Nicosia, Cyprus on Dec 3, 2016. The event was organized by the Cyprus Association for Safety and Health (CySHA).
During the event, ADITESS gave a presentation with title “On the edge of research: Enforcing security & preserving safety in critical infrastructure setups”. Through the talk, results and ongoing work of various EU funded projects under the Security domain, surveillance and emergency response are presented. In particular, we discussed how the automated surveillance through a smart P-REACT (http://p-react.eu) system may allow the smooth operation of critical setups (indoors and outdoors), ensuring the well-being of both care givers and takers. In the events of crisis, the timely assessment and response is rather critical. ZONeSEC (http://www.zonesec.eu) is introduced for the provision of physical security through the surveillance of widezones and large areas with the deployment of both fixed sensors and aerial surveillance units, illustrating the benefits of deploying UAVs for the prompt assessment of areas. Assessment from these systems may form as inputs to IMPRESS (http://fp7-impress.eu) which aids at improving preparedness and response of health services allowing for the effective allocation of resources and rescue units in major crises.
Beyond the presentation, ADITESS as one of the sponsor had the opportunity through a dedicated booth, to provide informative material about the three funded projects to the audience as well as to present related videos.
